Lovell Chen

Stokes Rousseau was engaged to deliver the heritage façade remediation, chimney cap restoration, cultural rubble conservation, and extensive entry landscaping works for the rejuvenation of the Ian Potter Museum.

This project involved the meticulous restoration of a heritage-listed building, with works including masonry repointing, stone replacement, and lintel remediation to preserve the structural integrity and historical character of the façade. In parallel, major landscaping works were delivered to revitalise the building’s entrance, including civil upgrades and the construction of a new structural pedestrian bridge, alongside soft landscaping that blends sustainable planting with thoughtful design. Conservation efforts also extended to the cultural rubble along the Swanston Street façade, with careful structural reinforcement and restoration of sculptural elements critical to the museum’s cultural identity.

Stokes Rousseau’s approach balanced heritage conservation with modern functionality, supporting the museum’s renewal as a vibrant and accessible public space.
