Stokes Rousseau was engaged to carry out restoration works on the historic Old Engineering Building at The University of Melbourne, designed by Reed, Smart and Tappin and constructed in 1899.
The project focused on preserving the building’s architectural significance while addressing weathering and structural deterioration.
Works included façade and chimney restoration, limestone replacement, repointing, render repairs, and the reconstruction of chimney caps. Additional scope involved refurbishment of original timber windows, stormwater upgrades, detailed painting, and joinery conservation — all delivered with care to maintain the integrity and legacy of this important heritage-listed structure.
