Stokes Rousseau was engaged to deliver a partial refurbishment of the heritage-listed Religious Centre at Monash University’s Clayton campus.
Originally built in 1968, this non-denominational chapel is a striking example of 1960s religious architecture and holds a unique place within the campus’ cultural and architectural history.
The refurbishment works included the installation of new electrical and audiovisual systems to support modern functionality, internal repainting, updated floor finishes, and the integration of custom joinery and furniture. All works were carried out with sensitivity to the building’s original design intent, ensuring that its spiritual and architectural significance was preserved while enhancing its usability for contemporary needs.
