Stokes Rousseau was proud to deliver critical heritage restoration works at the iconic Fitzroy Town Hall, a landmark of civic pride designed by George Johnson and built in 1873.
Our skilled team carried out targeted roof leak repairs, structural strengthening of existing roof trusses, and consolidation of the Main Hall’s lath and plaster ceilings. This was followed by extensive solid plaster restoration and detailed artisan painting to revive the hall’s ornate ceiling features.
The project was recognised with the 2023 Victorian Architecture Award for Conservation, reflecting the collaborative effort between our construction team and the project architects in preserving one of Melbourne’s most significant heritage buildings.
